Brisbane is a city with the one of the lowest rental vacancy rates in the nation, with desperate calls for more accommodation. 2022 saw a 48% drop in available rental listings compared to the previous 5-year average. The majority of homes in Brisbane are 4+ bedrooms, unsuited to single people who need private and secure spaces to call home. In particular, there is a strong demand for older single people who want to stay in suburbs close to their families, but with the convenience of level access, low maintenance, affordable, secure access and giving independence, while not being isolated. There is also a significant demand for accommodation for essential workers like our valued nurses in the surrounding aged care facilities, and key workers in the expanding Port of Brisbane.

Verdelle is helping to meet that need by subdividing an old lot of land in a high-demand suburb and building two new homes, that hold 10 micro-apartments within. These fully furnished suites feature secure access for each resident, with their own compact kitchen, bedroom with ensuite and living room with direct access to their own private courtyard. For convenience, there is level access to the home, with a bus stop at the front door and only 150m walk to the train station. For lifestyle, the property is just 5 minutes to the beach and walk to shops. Verdelle has acquired a very special piece of Australia - a greenfield site, right in the heart of Newcastle city.

This piece of land has been waiting for us for over 100 years, vacant and held with an unknown future, held for a possible future road. We have been driving past this land for the last decade developing in Newcastle, and imagining what it’s future could hold.

Land like this is so rare. To be this large at over 3000 metres,  this close to the heart of the city, this close to convenience of rail just 150m away is hard to imagine possible. This land is in the green heart of one of our favourite Newcastle suburbs which is renowned for a balance of work rest and play.

It is nestled between a choice of fantastic schools a short walk away. It is just 700 metres from the Fernleigh track, offering cycling and scenic walks though bushland and wetlands. It is only 5km to the beach and 10km to the lake foreshore so weekends will be spoilt for choice. 

It is an incredible privilege for Verdelle to be entrusted with this land, and to take it from a vacant dirt, to become homes destined to be full of love and life. We have a long trusted team now underway with designing homes for the site.

Verdelle presents 'Aspect' - 9 serene townhouses, high-set to capture stunning views across the bushland reserve.

This development sold out during construction, setting new suburb sale records. It was a finalist in the HIA-CSR Hunter Housing Awards - Townhouse/Villa of the Year over 5 dwellings for 2021.

Our buyers were so delighted to get the keys to their new homes. One of our buyers arrived at their new home directly from their honeymoon and another settling their newborn into her very own room.

They were greeted with a welcome letter from Verdelle. Our selling agent, rich with three decades of selling new homes for developers, said this was the first time a developer had asked to leave a welcome letter for the new owners.

Most memorably, one new family coming home for the first time shed some happy tears saying “this kitchen is exactly what I wanted, it’s everything a family could want. They have thought of every detail, right down to the drawer placement”. Our Mum-CEO personally designed the kitchen layouts just as she would have wanted them for her own family, and the new owner could tell.

Verdelle looked at a run-down cottage on the corner and saw the potential that others missed.

Council had identified this zone for redevelopment, calling on investors to maximise the potential of the lively commuter hub of Broadmeadow.

This opportunity enabled the potential of one small cottage to be unlocked to create residential housing with eight bespoke apartments over four levels.

This development is named 'Nouveau on Young' - and it really is wonderful to create something new/nouveau.

The spacious office/retail space at street level serves commuters on their way to nearby bus and train stations.

The development has been in high demand for executive rentals, providing an excellent return for the satisfied investor.

There is so much reward, growth, and urban renewal awaiting those who are attuned to seeing potential.

Verdelle loves helping create a lively, dynamic hub through urban shoptop development.

The waterside community of Carrington, close to Newcastle's CBD, is a jewel in her crown. In this project, 'Quattro on Young', Verdelle created four boutique apartments and a retail space below.

This investment has added to the energy of the much loved Young Street at the heart of this community.

Our retail tenant, The Grateful, have become a talking point with their community-minded floristry, with every bouquet ordered being matched by giving back with a surprise gift bouquet to brighten someone's day in a local hospital.

Our development's vibrant colour palette accents the neighbouring café with its distinctive mosaic façade and some of the best coffee in town. Our tenants love the green lifestyle with bike storage for easy access to the CBD.
